I had just finished washing the dirt/snot off Kate and
went outside to ask Jayke to take out the recycle. K wanted to help, so she
went too. The kids know that when they take out garbage/recycle that they have
to wash their hands when they are finished. So, J and K come back in the house
and J starts to wash his hands. K runs from the front door to the back door
yelling "waddy wash, waddy wash, waddy wash". I stop her and tell her
to go wash her hands and she says, "no. waddy wash." I had to sit
there and think about what she was trying to tell me--why she wouldn't wash her
hands. After I figured it out I just laughed. She was saying "already
wash". She thought that since she had just washed her hands not 2 minutes
before that she didn't have to wash them afterwards. I explained to her that it
didn't matter if she had washed her hands before, when she touched the recycle
she got germs on her hands and she needed to wash them off. So she tells me,
"tay"(ok) and washes her hands.
