well, K is to that age now...She does not enjoy being clothed or
diapered. I have found her several times in the last few weeks with her diaper
off. Mostly she pulls it off after she has wet or dirtied it. She wants to potty
train so bad, but I refuse to potty train until my kids are 2 1/2 yo. She has
gone on the potty several times, but I will not take her to the potty several
times throughout the day until she is to the magical age of 2.5 yrs. Last week
I found her in the family room playing with some beads that I had just bought
to use for bean bags (since we can't have beans). This is what it looked like
(without the blue oval, though).

Happy Grandparents Day!
Jayke
dictated this one for you guys:
"One day we were on the trip to our camping spot and this picture I gave to you is a picture of the way to our camping spot. Happy Grandparents' Day. I love you.
Love,
Jayke"
He drew a picture of his favorite camping trip for his grandparents. He drew a cut-away view of the truck with the trees in the background. I am in the front seat and J is in the backseat. He really misses you guys!

Here are some more pics for Grandparents Day. The first two are of
Volkswagens and the last one is a heart. He lost his other heart that he made.

Ever feel like...
God
is REALLY watching out for you? I wrote earlier that our jeep just broke down.
Well, it wasn't completely down, just down enough so we didn't feel comfortable
driving it. Ryan, for some reason, decided to drive it to his friend's house
last night to change out some tires/wheels for his Volkswagen project. It was
giving him problems all the way there. Everything seemed to be going wrong, not
just one thing. He made it to his friend's neighborhood and right as he was
turning the corner to the guy's street, the jeep died. He lives right on the
corner, so Ryan just coasted into his driveway. He tried starting it, but was
unsuccessful after several tries. He decided to just leave it until later, so
he went and got started on changing the wheels/tires. When they finished for
the night, the two of them pushed the jeep closer to the garage so they would
have some light (11pm). His friend pulls out some tools and just starts
checking everywhere. They plugged his code reader in and it turned on, without being
in the "on" position and when they turned it "on", it
turned off. They checked a few more things and discovered that half of the
wiring was not grounded. They searched over the entire jeep and finally found
it. There was a group of wires that were supposed to be bolted to the engine
and they had come loose. They reconnected them and everything worked perfect.
Why I know God was watching out for us:
*Ryan had just driven the jeep to school that morning b/c I had a home school group and Dr. appt. (he was able to get to school on time)
*Ryan switched vehicles with me after school and took the kids home so they didn't have to sit through the Dr. appt with me: I drove the jeep home. (jeep did not die on me)
*The jeep died close enough for Ryan to coast into the driveway, without having to walk a long way.
*Ryan was at his friend's house when the jeep died. Yeah, the one that has the hot rod shop. Who else would have had the knowledge and experience to help fix it?
*We did not have to have the jeep towed to a shop and pay a TON of money that we didn't have to fix a simple problem.
*All it cost us was an hour of Ryan and his friend's time, and we owe him and his wife dinner.
I don't even want to know what would have happened if the events had unfolded in any other way! I just have to thank Heavenly Father for watching out for us and helping us! He REALLY does know each of us and is aware of everything that we are in need of. Do you ever have that feeling of complete and overwhelming indebtedness? It's a wonderful feeling especially when we know He does not charge us interest, just expects us to do our best.

When is a bite more than a bite?
E was complaining about a bite on his leg. I
decided to check it out. This is what I found.
The circle around the bite was rock hard and there were streaks coming out from it that were also rock hard. Everything that was red was very tender.
The area immediately around the bite was 1" diameter. The entire red spot was 3 1/2" diameter.
My question was: Do I take him to Urgent Care b/c it is a Friday night and the Dr. is already gone? I decided no. Yeah it is a bad infection, but would the UC just give him an antibiotic just to be safe or did he really NEED it. With E's immune system so messed up already, we have to be careful about antibiotics that are more than what he really needs. Last summer he got ant bites that looked almost as bad as this and they just put him on an antibiotic without a second thought.
The only product we have for cleaning infections/cuts is alcohol. Poor guy. He was really brave, though. He only whimpered a little. (Notice the battery in his hand? I had him squeeze it while I applied the alcohol. It seemed to help distract him a little.) We finished it up with Neosporin and a band-aid. We repeated the procedure in the morning. This time he said the alcohol was tickly. The redness did go down some, so I know it is working. The only bad thing is that we found 5-6 more bites, all red and swollen, though not as bad as the 1st. So, I guess we just keep chugging along with our routine with a lot of bites and see how he does.
What do you do?
What
do you do when you are cooking dinner, the kids are sitting around watching
you, and all of a sudden your 1yo daughter holds her hand up in the air at you
and says, "Eww, Eww, Eww, Eww, Eww"? Do you look and see what's going
on or do you continue making dinner until it is finished and then ask her what
is "eww"?
I looked at her and I wished I hadn't. She was displaying a nice little surprise on her fingertips...Yes it did come from her diaper.
YUCK!
I had Ryan put her in the bathtub so she couldn't touch anything and I quickly got to a stopping point in the meal so I could clean her. At least the mess was very contained and I did not have to take a garden hose to her!
At least I can laugh about it! I love being a mom!
