E was learning about the
letter A in home school today. He's been having trouble with letters and sounds,
so we started something different today. At the end of the day, he got to cut
out pictures that start with the short a sound and glue them to a letter A.
After he was finished, I asked him what words start with the /a/ sound. He told
me, "apple, ant, ack, ass..." I tried to conceal my laughter but
couldn't for long. He had no idea what he said, he was just making up
"nonsense" words. We had talked about grass earlier and I told him it
had the /a/ sound in the middle of the word, so he probably got it from that.
Anyway, I stopped laughing and had him go on and he continued with several
other /a/ words. He has never been able to produce words to go with a
sound/letter before, so this is a huge improvement!
Here is a pic of his silliness:
And here is one where I
made him show his face:
I can't believe my little
baby can ride a bike! She got on E's bike a couple weeks ago and tried it out.
She does a pretty good job for being barely 2yo! Can't you tell how proud she
is of herself?
