Alive...barely

I have got to say that strep is absolutely the most horrible thing a person would ever have to endure. I never want to have it again! That being said, I still don't feel 100% well yet, even though I finished my entire course of antibiotics.

Last Saturday (a week ago), I woke up at 4:30am with the most horrible pain in my throat. I got a drink and went to bed for a few more hours until V woke me up so she could eat. My throat didn't hurt anymore, but every. single. muscle and joint in my entire body ached with a pain that I cannot describe. I couldn't move. I could barely stand. I certainly could not function. After feeding V, I gave her to Jayke to take care of so I could sleep another hour and hopefully feel better. One hour turned into three and Jayke was bringing V in to get some more food. I fed her again and gave her back to Jayke and quickly fell asleep again. I started fevering and getting chilled and my body ached even more. I thought I had the flu. It was seriously bad. I would have been happy to die at that moment. This continued the entire day. I couldn't even help my kids with lunch. I spent the entire day aching and sleeping, waking only every couple hours when V needed more food. Jayke basically ran the entire household for me the whole day. I did not start to feel better until about day 3 of the antibiotics and did not feel well enough to actually do normal "mom" things until day 6 of the antibiotics.

Basically, I lost an entire week of my life to strep. I couldn't do anything more than sustain life during that week. That Saturday was Ryan's first day of hard-core board studying, so he was gone before anyone woke up and didn't come home until everyone was already asleep. If Jayke had not been around on that first day, I'm not sure if anyone in our house would be alive. He literally saved all of us! I am so thankful for his responsibility and his helpfulness! Jayke is definitely an amazing kid! He took care of V all day long and made sure that the other kids were safe while I was nonexistent. He continued to help through the next week while I was slowly recovering. I don't know what I would have done without him!

Now that I am on the mend, I have a ton of catching up to do. It is amazing the amount of housework that must be done in a week's time! Hopefully my busyness will help ward off any feelings of cabin fever until I can actually get out of the heat. I am definitely looking forward to having a break from the heat and getting to see my baby sister and her new husband!
