My Not-So-Little Man

Jayke has been especially eager to help me recently. He is always asking if he can help out or take care of his baby sister. He really wanted a picture of himself with V, showing what a nice brother he has been lately. He loves holding and playing with his sister. I am so glad to have an extra pair of hands to help me!

Jayke has been going through a change recently. He had been getting worse in his bossiness, pestering, and typical 1st child syndrome, so I sat down with him and had a long one-sided discussion. :-) We talked a lot about how his behavior was affecting others and himself and how he needs to be really careful about how others (especially girls) view him now that he is becoming a tween-ager. I told him that moms teach their girls to pay attention to how boys treat their sisters and mothers when deciding which boys to like and that the good, nice girls won't choose a boy that is rude or bossy. I promised him that I would treat him as a young man instead of a child and even gave him permission to use my hair styling products when he wants to. I guess it worked because he has done a 180 in his behavior. He has been going out of his way to be kind, helpful, and considerate. Yeah, he still slips now and again, but overall he is becoming a really wonderful young man. I love my Jayke-E-Man.
