Ethan's birthday

Ryan wanted to make Ethan's birthday extra special this year. He was able to pry out that he wanted a Ferrari cake. We told him that it was probably impossible to do that and just dismissed it. Ryan went out of his way to figure out how to make one for him.  Thank you, Hobby Lobby, for carrying sheets of colored rice paper. Ryan used the vinyl cutter to cut out the designs and pried off bit by bit until he had transferred the design to the cake. Ethan was only a little excited about it.

On his actual birthday, he got to go to Skateland with his best friend. We knew she was moving soon, but didn't know until that day that the moving truck was coming the day after his birthday. He tried to not act sad, but I could tell that he was really going to miss her. He asked me for probably 4 days after his birthday if he could call her. I tried to tell him that she probably wouldn't answer if they were driving to Tennessee, but he still tried anyway. Poor guy. He was beyond thrilled when he got his first email from her, though.

Having his best friend move across the country made me a little sad for when we move. I just had a small glimpse of what it would feel like for all of our friends when we just up and leave. It won't keep me from moving, it just made me a little sad. I think I will be crying a lot when we finally move, even if I am excited for the future and all the opportunities we will have.
