Last week, Ryan's school had a bowling night full of free food and bowling. The only criteria was that you had to have a wristband to get in. When Ryan went to pick up our wristbands he told them there would be 2 adults and 5 children. The person handing them out kindly stated, "You know this is for family only, right?" I think they were a little shocked when he told them that it was only his family. Who in their right mind would have 5 children while in dental school, right? It's hard enough without any children! We still have fun and enjoy it, even though it might just be the most difficult thing we've done in our lives, and we definitely have done difficult before! Anyway, bowling...
We started out the night by showing up at the wrong bowling alley. After we realized the mistake, we arrived just in time to get the tail end of the food. Cold bowling alley pizza and wings aren't the greatest. I typically love wings, but I couldn't even eat one.
The lanes were all packed when we got there, so we waited around until someone finished their game. We finally got enough space for the kids to play, but ended up pulling them off the game a few turns early because another group left, leaving us a lane all to ourselves. Ryan kindly put up the bumpers for everyone in our family, except him. Thanks, honey. I had the last laugh, though, when the scoreboard showed our final scores. Time ran out before we could finish, but you can see that I didn't do too bad for a non-bowler. Especially if you realize that one of Ryan's strikes was actually me. ;-)
Every time I go bowling I always laugh at the silly things that people do before or after they bowl. If you've ever been to a bowling alley, I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about. This time, I told the kids that they all had to do a silly dance when they were done, just because. After one of mine, Ryan looked over at me and kindly told me how awkward I looked. That's okay because I'm positive the awkward dance helped me get all those strikes.
